» design critique Today, design is receiving attention on a global basis. Consumers, designers and businesses all deal with design but with different intentions. On the one hand, people are confronted with a multitude of products and services and a resulting overload of information, where guidelines and orientation are needed. On the other hand, design is used by businesses much too often as a short-term criterion for a more distinct market-position. Against this background, the importance of design critique offering a tool of guidance for consumers and businesses alike cannot be overstated. At the same time there is an obvious lack of design-critical positions. This relates to both the presence of design critique in the media as well as the education in third-level institutions. Establishing a design-critical event format aims at reviving and bringing new perspectives to a debate about and around design. |
