Normativity, Social Sustainability and Design in the Era of Globalisation

Increase in awareness about cultural, social differences and incompatibilities is a sign of globalisation. Against this background the question concerning tasks and the significance of design needs to be addressed again. What may design achieve within the concept of an universal civilisation? Which role does design play in the overcoming of barriers to communication in international markets? Which significance do norms and standardisations have in this context? Subject of discussion may be amongst others: whereto leads a global normativity, which liberties and constraints does it contain, which consequences does it have for future projects and how does it affect social life?
