Design Views: Ina Budde
Exhibition at Kunstgewerbemuseum

Details

Ina Budde sets new standards in the rapidly changing fashion industry. The principles of circular economy run through her collection DfC X JNJ with impressive consistency – a feat that she was rewarded for with the Federal Ecodesign Award 2017.

The fashion designer’s dedication for recycling-optimizing design principles and a fair production opposes the linear industrial ways of economy that lead to a high consumption of raw materials and enormous amounts of waste. Transparency and traceability of the materials and production, as well as the expansion of return-services and the development of new utilization concepts and distribution channels are important cornerstones of Ina Budde’s work.

Only natural plastic-free materials are used in the production of her collections – their origin and manufacturing are tested and transparent along the whole value-added chain. A special cutting technique developed by the designer herself allows her to reduce the material waste to less than one percent. All garments are manufactured locally and per order – in this way long transportation routes and overproduction can be avoided. Design Views: Additive Addicted
Exhibition at Kunstgewerbemuseum

Details

In the work of design collective Additive Addicted technologies of digital manufacturing and a millennia-old material – porcelain – meet and interact with one another. To accentuate the special characteristics and qualities of porcelain the design collective developed parametric and generative strategies that allowed to program and control the movements of a ceramic 3D printer. This way, objects with delicate, highly complex structures that resemble textiles were developed. From the symbiosis of technology and material arises a yet unseen repertoire of forms that could have not been realized with conventional ceramic techniques.
