CANCELLED DUE TO COVID 19-PANDEMIE: Event | 50 Years IDZ
The Human Scale: How to Create a Happy City?

Details

On April 17th 1970 the IDZ was opened in Berlin-Charlottenburg. With an event on the topic "The Human Scale: How to Create a Happy City?" we want to continue the debates of that time exactly fifty years later. The twenty thinkers, poets and designers involved at the time, including such illustrious names as Eugen Gomringer, were joined by only one woman, a young architect. On April 20, 1970, she participated as a panelist in the discussion on "The participation of the citizen in the problems and decision-making processes in urban planning and urban renewal”. We are particularly pleased that Prof. Dr. Ingrid Krau, the young architect of that time, will give a lecture at our event and share with us her thoughts on the human scale today.

Please save the date! Further information on the programme will be published shortly.

Where? Stadtwerkstatt, Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 11, 10178 Berlin
When? Friday, 17 April 2020, from 6 p.m.

Transforming People and Places II
How will we live in the future? How do we create cities worth living in for happy and healthy residents? Can design influence attitudes and thus encourage us to rethink our mobility? In our second event in our "Transforming People and Places" series, which we have launched together with Archimedes Exhibitions, we will be taking a close look at the role of design in transforming cities into humane and sustainably liveable urban spaces. Be part of the debate on the opening evening of Berlin Design Week in our "ask me anything" session with Peter Wouda, Design Director of the Volkswagen Group Future Center Europe and a surprise guest! Transforming People and Places "Urban Mobility II: Redesigning the Asphalt" Thursday, 30 April 2020, 18.30 - 21.00 hrs followed by: Dance into the May warm-up with drinks & music Archimedes Exhibitions, Saarbrücker Str. 24, 10405 Berlin Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
